−China runs on mobile payments — WeChat Pay and Alipay dominate. International cards work at major hotels and high-end restaurants, but smaller spots are mobile-only. We strongly recommend setting up Alipay or WeChat Pay with your foreign card before you arrive — both now allow international users.
